When you're in literally thousands of dollars, you've burned PTO to be in the field, and you don't see animals - you will need to lean on your purpose to get you through those discouraging times. In this episode I share my three reasons why I bowhunt:
1. Self-reliance
2. Return to our primitive nature
3. Providing organic meat for the family
I've found great purpose and happiness from these motives for bowhunting. It's important to understand what yours are.
I like the feeling of being self reliant and not just relying on the grocery store for our meat. There's nothing like cooking fresh elk or venison on the smoker for the family. I hate cooking meat from the store that has tons of grease, it's super nasty.
It's in our DNA to hunt and that is another reason why I like it so much. There is something really special about going into the field with a bow and hunting wild game. It helps me feel super connected to my ancestors who went before me.
Bowhunting is also important for other reasons:
-
Conservation: Bowhunting is a crucial tool for wildlife management and conservation. It helps control animal populations, prevent overgrazing, and maintain a healthy ecosystem.
-
Tradition: Bowhunting is a time-honored tradition that has been passed down through generations. It provides a connection to our past and helps keep our heritage alive.
-
Health Benefits: Bowhunting is a great way to stay active and healthy. It requires strength, endurance, and agility, which can help improve physical fitness and overall well-being.
-
Sustainability: Bowhunting promotes sustainability by encouraging the use of renewable resources and reducing reliance on non-renewable resources. It also supports local businesses and communities.
-
Personal Growth: Bowhunting can be a challenging and rewarding experience that requires discipline, patience, and mental fortitude. It provides an opportunity for personal growth and development.
-
Ethical Harvesting: Bowhunting promotes ethical harvesting practices by requiring hunters to be skilled and accurate with their shots. This reduces the risk of animals being wounded and left to suffer.
-
Connection with Nature: Bowhunting provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature and experience the outdoors in a meaningful way. It allows hunters to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
